yeah bro, I've tried trancribing some stuff that VC did but only limited... if he does those "Vinnie Stuff" that are so far off [img]eek.gif[/img] I don't bother... I just listen...

right now I'm discovering how he does those fills.. it's really fun... still hope he does the VId/DVD thing, why not, he got his own website now right...

Percussioner was a cool magazine. I think I have all of them and the tapes too! It wasn't afraid to put advanced material in it, which unfortunately, put it above the heads of most of the drummers who might otherwise have subscribed to it and kept it going. I've seen Sal's Omni of Drum Technique and it was pretty ridiculous - very advanced material.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Gary Chaffee's "Patterns" and Rick Gratton's "Rick's Licks" will help you to figure out the Vinnie phrasings. A software for slowing down the licks would be important too (for example, 'Transcribe' or 'Sound Forge').

There's a track on the John Mclaughlin album 'Live At The Festival Hall' with Trilok on that's just nuts. Trilok's metric modulation and superimposition of time is just stupid. His whole concept of time is ridiculous.

I'm sure I read once that Vinnie describes Trilok the master of this stuff and even points to this album for inspiration. You HAVE to get this album. I'll try and upload the track for you...
